And a pretty good one at that. I was suffering from the post vacation crankies (really–it’s not just the kids who have a hard time returing to a school schedule), but things went well both on and off-line today.
First at school, the kids really seemed to get the story we were reading The Land I Lost which is about a man’s childhood in the highlands of Vietnam. They finished a visual organizer and really had a lot of insights into the story, even though it was a complicated comprehension skill being taught (Author Point of View). In the middle of it, my AP stepped in for an informal. Usually she always has at least one thing I could have done better in her write ups (very annoying to read after a while). This was the first one with no comments like that, go figure!
Back at home at night I had another session on Vyew, and two students showed up (one from yesterday, one new). So I’m hoping this will catch on with the kids. I think that some of them are posting up comments on the blog at night, which means they are connecting online at home. I’m hopeful. Now, I just have to iron out how I’m going to structure the Heritage/Culture wiki reports they will be starting in a few weeks.
