Reflections on teaching

paper and pencil vs. digital writing

Doug Noon on Borderland had a very interesting post reflecting on his students’ blog work that I commented on. My reflection was more about shifting writing between the paper, and computer worlds.

It brought me back to an earlier post on Dave Cormier’s blog where he discussed how the medium (paper) limited the message. Looking at the reality of the near term, it seems my students will continue to have formal assessments on paper, so I will have to teach them to go between these two mediums in their writing.

Thanks for the link and the comment. I left a reply detailing a little bit more of our process. I don’t think that the pencil vs paper thing is really a problem for most of them.
