My suggestions for Blog Day 2007

fun

For blogging day, I’m going to try to recommend blogs I haven’t pushed before…

Edublogs

Kindergarten’s 3 R’s: Respect, Resources, & Rants

I like this lady. She teaches kindergarten, but she is NOT Miss Nancy. He wit is sharp, and her observations keen. Read about her daugther’s first day of middle school in Texas. They have a lot of military bases in San Antonio. I can only hope that kids not in M. Guhlin’s district.

Lisa’s Lingo

A FANTASTIC educator, and I love how she both is collaborative, and willing to try new technology. Very impressive lady (fantastic podcasting with inclusion special ed students), and what an open mind. New to edublogging, so go on over and introduce yourself.

el/ed/tech

This blog from Mr. Circe is new to my feed. I guess he heard me on Ed Tech Talk, then became a twitter follower, so I figured I check out his blog. Nice tech links. I’m looking forward to the start of the school year to see what he does with the kids.

Kobus van Wyk – Blog

Okay this is the exception to my rule. I’ve pushed Kobus van Wyk’s blog before but I don’t think he’s getting readers (a technorati search shows most of the links to him are from my blog and one other blog in South Africa), and he should. We talk about adding diversity, this is our chance to prove it! He’s a damn good writer and he is a very interesting position (ICT implementation/administration: sorta like M. Guhlin). If you want to find out what’s happening with ICT implementation in schools in developing countries, this is where it’s at. Please read this blog!

Non edublogs Because to think outside the box, you need to get out of the box, here is some reading to refresh your palate after spending the day trying to keep up with M.Guhlin’s posts in your reader (does that man have a job, does he sleep?)

Photojojo

Photojojo takes your digital photography to a whole new level. Things I NEVER would have thought of doing became things I ended up doing. Wow!

Public Agenda Online

Yeah, this is not an obscure site (neither was Photojojo) but this is about getting folks out of what you normally read. So, in an effort to get you reading something besides education, introduce yourself to general public policy (not just NCLB, because there is more wrong with the world than just that). This is chalk full of policy goodness, and yes they do have studies on education so we can all start quoting something besides Ed Sector.

saladbar: Hell hath no fury as a woman without hot water

Since I was introduced to John at Rejecting Your Reality by a friend of his, I thought I would try to do the same for a RL friend of mine who has a pretty funny blog. Edublog world, this is Carrie a working mother of two girls in Albany/Berkeley. This post really sums up the feeling all of us have about lackadaisical repairmen.

Ouch! Alice, that one hurt! It says a lot about my writing. I’ll have to take a hard look at it.

    Best wishes,
    Miguel

Miguel, I say this with love, and envy. I do not understand how you manage to post not just daily, but multiple times a day. You are easily the most prolific blogger in my feed. AND, they are not short, but long, citing sources, etc. Do NOT feel bad. I hit you BAD in this post. I was just being tongue in cheek.

As to the stuff about the school that Michaele’s daughter is going to, you are at least as hard on schools about stuff like what she complained about. Like your post today about motivating students to attend school, for example. I’ll stop picking on you. Please forgive me for the cheap shot.

Alice, write what you will. I was more worried about my boss reading the first reference (no objections to the 2nd…I just finished my personality tests for this month and understand completely).

My criticism was light, sorry I didn’t throw some smilies in. So, to set things right…

Thanks for the link to Lisa’s Lingo! I wasn’t subscribed to that one…the el/ed/tech and Kobus and Kindergarten were also new to me!

Take care…back to puppy love (the poodle is cute!),

NP, on the blog/work thing, part of your job is communication about ICT, so if you do those posts on “the man’s” time, isn’t it part of your job? Since you like bible quotes try out this one, “render unto Casear what is Caesar’s”.
