Thank you for applying to the Google Teacher Academy at the Googleplex. We had over 250 applications for only 50 spots, and we’re sorry to inform you that were not selected to attend this event.
We realize that there are many amazing people that won’t be able to attend, and we wish we had room for everyone. We hope that you’ll consider applying for the next academy in your region.
Thanks again for all your hard work and accomplishments. We wish you luck in your continued endeavors.
Cheers and best,
The Google Teacher Academy Team
I’m still in the bitter recriminations phase, but I’m horrid at holding a grudge, so I’ll probably move on by next week.

Well, I like to think so, BUT who knows what the criteria was, so I’m trying not to take it personally. As a co-worker pointed out, getting fired, now that’s hard, this is like not getting picked to be valedictorian.

I have thought of applying but this is discouraging. Hmmm. Well, I’m not in a hurry anyway.

Lisa, I think it was worthwhile, because I think the video is a very nice calling card. Since it’s a pretty easy application process, outside of the video, I’d recommend it as an exercise in defining your theory, etc.
Also, I’ve been hearing nothing but “yes” lately, so it can’t hurt for someone else to get a chance. All Alice, all the time, would be a little boring…

That’s too bad Alice. My husband missed too and he also deserved to be in. They must have had a hard job picking ‘em.

Dorothy, that I’m much more dismayed that your dh didn’t get in because you guys won’t get out this way all the time. I can hop down to the Bay Area for a day any old time. RATS! I may think about a quick trip down to the Bay Area to meet up with you all if you’d like. What days will you be in town? You can email me off list. If you don’t have my email, just click on the contact me above.

The 50 that made it better be damn good. No opportunities like that for Aussies though, so not too sure what you’ve missed out on!

I’m hearing (from anonymous sources who have gone), it might not have been much, BUT a trip to the Google campus would have been nice. Who knows, they may have wanted people with less-experience, OR someone with more Google apps experience? I, have officially moved on.

Ok, guess I’m in good company. I too got the “thanks, but no thanks” email. As you said, it was a good experience to make the video. I think one thing that determined the choices was how many people you would teach. I didn’t have big numbers as I am mainly a classroom teacher. Guess my students don’t count.

Delaine, I did tell ‘em I do a Webcast on Ed Tech Talk? Maybe that wasn’t a big enough audience? I thought they wanted classroom teachers from the questions on the app.
