My Semi-Annual Report to Parents

January14

I was asked to create a PowerPoint to show off what I’m doing in the computer lab to parents. There is a ~monthly meeting the principal has with parents. I said I thought I could do a short video (2 minutes) about as easily as the PowerPoint.

Rather than start work on that over break, I created an annual report for Dan Meyer’s annual report contest. Then I recreated, and redid a slide of Dans, and a whole lot of other crud, you can read about here, if you’re so inclined. I wasted my hours…

Or did I? I didn’t do anything that I can point to as coming from the Dy/Dan contest, but I think it did sharpen my thinking about what to include…

Alice, what an amazing tribute to your students, school, and to your efforts. Loved the music, too.

Thank you! I think it worked with the parents too.

    Hello Alice,

I’ve been a reader of your blog for the last few months. I’m a PR guy with a focus on technology in education (I worked at Apple in PR for their education group) and now work directly with companies bringing new technologies into the classroom. One of them is Freepath, they are based in Folsom and led by John Stone (one of the early guys at PowerSchool. They are looking for some local educators to try out Freepath. Would you be interested?

    Thank you,
    Josh Morgan

Thanks Josh, I’ll contact you offline. You might want to watch putting the email next time. I can get it fine myself if you put it in the comment box, and you can use [at] for the character if you want to share it with the (human) public, but not bots.

Thank you for the concern but it’s already out there in so many places that I try not to worry about it anymore and put my trust in my SPAM filter.
