An Observation on Organizational Dynamics

February13

Sometimes, you can see where problems will come from in a group, or what groups will have conflicts. I was in an online group for new mothers based on our due date month. This was a rather diverse group, and needless to say, it eventually broke apart into factions, as there was no way we could be on the same page since our only commonality was being pregnant/new moms, and having a computer.

But, one of the most contentious online groups I ever joined was a knitting list. Yes, a knitting list. I tell people that and they are amazed, “What’s there to fight about with knitting?”  You’d be surprised, lol.

The lesson I take from that, you never know what will set folks off. Then again, sometimes you know exactly what is going to piss folks off.
